A special presentation was made to Ricky Rudd and Bill Elliott, commemorating the 20th Anniversary of their first career NASCAR Winston Cup wins at Riverside International Raceway.

-- A large American flag was presented by members of the 101st Airborne repelling from two California Army National Guard Blackhawks in the area of Turn 4.
-- The Rev. Rick Bloom, pastor of the Pacific Christian Center in Santa Maria, CA gave the invocation. Pastor Bloom served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet during the Vietnam War
-- The US Air National Guard provided the presentation of colors
-- The 40th Infantry Division California Army National Guard Performed the National Anthem!
-- The flyover crew from the 310th Fighter Squadron in three F-16's from Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, AZ (Refueler?)

President and CEO of the Automobile Club of Southern California, Tom McKernan, was the Grand Marshal and said those 4 great words ...Gentlemen Start your Engines! In honor of our brave men and woman in the armed forces!
-- Arnold Schwarzenegger waved the green flag.

-- 71 degrees at the start, Track Temp was 111 degree's, Sunny with a slight breeze.

--  Ward Burton (lost a engine), Johnny Benson  (lost a engine & crashed) involving Sterling Marlin (crashed) Derrike Cope (lost an engine) Jerry Nadeau  (changed engines) Jeff Green and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  (changed engines) start at the back of the field.
